Graduating in 2022 with a BSc (Hons) in Actuarial Studies, Qian Yun excelled in her professional career at Shopee Malaysia and substantially contributed to research in applied mathematics.

Qian Yun's venture into the realm of research began during her final semester at Sunway University. Under the guidance of Ms Chan Lay Guat, the Head of the Department of Actuarial Science and Risk in the School of Mathematical Sciences, Qian Yun initiated a research project, which proved to be a pivotal point for her subsequent endeavours in academic research.

Even while employed as an Associate in Business Development (Category Projects) at Shopee Malaysia, Qian Yun continued her research journey, dedicating her free time to scholarly pursuits. Collaborating with Ms Chan, she co-authored an impressive total of four papers and three posters. Qian Yun's significant contributions to research were acknowledged in 2022 through her participation in various conferences and the reception of prestigious awards. Alongside Ms Chan, Qian Yun secured three awards: First Place at the 1st Teaching & Learning Poster Competition by Sunway University, "Out of the Dark and Into the Light", the Best Poster Award (Silver Award) at the 4th International Conference on Mathematical Sciences and Statistics (ICMSS 2022), and the Best Paper Award (Third Prize) at the ASEAN Quality Assurance Conference (AQAC) 2022.

Qian Yun's research journey extended into 2023 when she and Ms Chan participated in Sunway University’s 2nd Teaching and Learning Poster Competition on November 1, 2023. Their collaborative efforts earned them an Honourable Mention award, placing them among the top 10 participants. Their poster, "Enhancing Actuarial Science Education: A Workshop-based Approach with Instructional Design and Gamification," reflected their dedication to innovative teaching methodologies.

Additionally, Qian Yun presented a co-authored paper with Ms Chan at the 3rd Pacific Optimization Conference (POC 2023), hosted by the School of Mathematical Sciences, Sunway University, from December 9 to 11, 2023. Their paper, "Using Learning Analytics in Higher Education: Optimizing Students’ Learning Experience in an Actuarial Science Course," delved into applying technology and intervention strategies to optimise students’ learning journey.
