Biography

Dr Jayesh Cherusseri is an active researcher in the field of materials science and engineering. He completed his Masters Degree (M.Sc.) in Physics followed by another Masters degree (M.Tech.) in Nanomedical Sciences with specialization in Nanotechnology in the year 2011. He became interested in nanoscience and nanotechnology and continued his studies in fiber-based supercapacitors and obtained PhD with distinction in Materials Science from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, India in the year 2016. During his PhD research, he concentrated on developing fiber-based flexible electronically conducting polymer/carbon nanomaterial composite electrodes for electrochemical energy storage application. He had two Indian Patents to his credit during his PhD period. Immediately after his PhD, he joined as a Senior Research Fellow in Materials Science Programme, IIT Kanpur followed by another position as Senior Project Engineer at Department of Mechanical Engineering in IIT Kanpur until 2017. In the same year, he was a recipient of prestigious Dr. D. S. Kothari Post-Doctoral Fellowship from University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India. In the year 2018, He was awarded the Pre-Eminent Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship by University of Central Florida, Florida, United States of America for a period of 2 years and moved to United States. During this period, I worked on graphene-based fiber supercapacitors and filed one United States Patent on graphene-based supercapacitors. To date, he has published more than 60 research outputs including scientific research articles and book chapters with internationally peer-reviewed publishers. His current interests are developing novel hierarchical 2D nanomaterials including but not limited to MXenes, graphene, perovskites, transition metal sulfides, etc. and using them for developing high energy supercapatteries for electric vehicles and wearable supercapacitors for remote health-care monitoring systems. He has currently joint appoint with Department of Engineering and Research Centre for Nano-Materials & Energy Technology (RCNMET), School of Engineering and Technology, Sunway University, Selangor, Malaysia.
