SDG Library Exhibition: SDG 7 Clean Water and Sanitation

sdg library exhibition

The 2nd Annual SDG Library Exhibition provides students, staff and visitors from the public community a rundown on the world, the nation and the University's progress on all 17 of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy is an area our University is particularly proud of in terms of our achievements. The exhibition showcases the meaning of SDG 7 through an elaboration on its matrices as well as how this goal can be further improved based on our current achievements.

The poster is plastered on a canvas for the audience to walk into the library and gain a deeper understanding of this SDG all while the annual Local Action for Global Goals campaign is taking place across the campus.

The importance of fostering sustainable energy in our country was presented through economic development where reliable energy can meet the demands for energy commodities. Environmental sustainability promotes energy efficiency across many different sectors which can be seen in the University's Environmental Sustainability Policy. This SDG also pushes for energy security in our country such as actively moving away from fossil fuels and non-renewable sources of energy.

The poster displays the University's efforts to reduce energy consumption and use of renewable sources of energy.

The Solar Panel project that took place in 2018 has successfully reduced the Sunway campus electricity bill.

The University has also actively designed our campus to be pedestrian-friendly by ensuring connected walkways across buildings inside as well as accessible pathways leading outside the University. There are no roads within the campus to promote a safer carbon-free mode of transport for the entire campus community including guests and visitors who have easy access into our University.

This educational learning experience inspires demand from our campus community to partake and better our initiatives for more energy-efficient operations.
