New International Collaboration in Drone Technology

New International Collaboration in Drone Technology

An academic team of the School of Engineering and Technology (SET), Sunway University had a very productive and promising meeting with the specialists in the area of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) also known as drones from the Guilin University of Aerospace Technology (GUAT), China.

The meeting was organised by the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Platform organisation, China. The main goal was to initiate establishing academic and research collaboration specifically in drone technology (though potential collaboration in other fields has also been outlined). The Sunway and Guilin teams have agreed to progress towards their joint participation in an international UAV consortium as well as establishing bilateral academic and research collaboration between the institutions.

Aerospace technology could become a new future focus area at SET as it could offer numerous applications including those associated with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
