February 2022 Convocation Announcement

Dear Graduates,

A Convocation ceremony is a distinguished occasion and a formal way of recognising your academic achievements. We are therefore looking forward to seeing you at the Sunway University Convocation Ceremonies scheduled from 15th to 18th February 2022 at the Amphitheatre in the Sunway Lagoon. We are excited to celebrate this memorable milestone with you and your family & friends. As ever at Sunway University your health and safety are of paramount importance to us.

Therefore, in view of the recent spike in the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCov) cases, we would like to assure you that we are taking appropriate precautionary measures in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Ministry of Health, Malaysia. As stated in the Essential Guide and Pre-Ceremony Guide which have been sent to you on 20th December 2021 and 28th January 2022 respectively, only fully vaccinated graduands and guests are allowed entry into the Amphitheatre, Sunway Lagoon.

Even though fully vaccinated, as a precautionary measure, you and your guests are advised to conduct a self-test using RTK-Ag test kit before participating in the convocation ceremony. This is to help keep yourself and others safe.

If you are feeling unwell, or indeed tested positive, we advise that you seek medical attention immediately and rest at home.

You can be assured that we will do our best to assist you in making arrangement for you to defer your Convocation Ceremony to July 2022. If you need to defer, kindly complete the 'Convocation Ceremony Deferment Application Form' and submit the same with relevant supporting documents.

A Congratulatory Message to All Graduates in the Class of 2021

I would like to offer my warmest congratulations to all 2021 graduates who have successfully completed their studies at Sunway University. You have passed one of the major milestones in life and demonstrated that you have been able to commit yourself successfully to many years of study and to demonstrate your competence as a professional. I am sure that achieving your awards will bring you much satisfaction. You will now be prepared for rewarding careers and have the knowledge and proven capacity for hard work that should give you the basis to be highly successful in life.

I am sure that you are all eager to attend a graduation ceremony to celebrate your achievement. This is not possible at the present time owing to the Covid19 pandemic situation, but we are optimistic that we shall be able to hold a ceremony towards the end of this year or early next year. We are making plans to do this and have been working on safe operating procedures to enable it to happen. However, we are unable to confirm if and when it will take place and it will depend on how quickly the pandemic situation improves and on when government rules will permit. Please bear with us as we wait for the situation to become clearer. We can assure you that we will notify you as soon as a date for a graduation ceremony can be confirmed.

It is not necessary to attend a graduation ceremony in order to formally graduate. The Examination Unit has started issuing certificates. Please liaise directly with the Examination Unit via [email protected] for any queries if you have yet to receive your certificate.

Whatever you plan to do next, I wish everyone success in their future careers. We shall always welcome you back should you wish to take your knowledge to a higher level. Please keep in touch and I look forward to seeing you all at a graduation ceremony at the earliest opportunity and to celebrate your achievements in person. Congratulations once again!

With my very best wishes to you all,

Professor Graeme Wilkinson

Announcement: Sunway University February 2021 Graduation Ceremony

As the daily number of COVID-19 cases continue to rise, the situation continues to remain uncertain. Therefore, to protect the health and safety of the community, Sunway University has decided to have a virtual graduation ceremony in April 2021 for graduands of the classes of July 2020 and February 2021. The precise date is yet to be confirmed. Please look out for further announcements and updates here. Graduands who are supposed to graduate in February 2021 will receive further information by email in due course.

The University will still confer degrees this February to all undergraduate and postgraduate students who are eligible to receive their awards. Parchments and transcripts will be delivered to graduates by post on successful completion of their programmes and after the Senate’s endorsement.

A Congratulatory Message to All Graduates in the Class of 2020

I would like to offer my warmest congratulations to all 2020 graduates on completing their studies and graduating from Sunway University.

Regrettably this is not the time at which we can celebrate your achievements through a graduation ceremony. The Covid19 pandemic has disrupted many aspects of normal life and we are all getting used to coping without some of the things that make life very enjoyable, such as graduation ceremonies. In the current situation we do not expect to be able to hold ceremonies until 2021. It is not necessary to attend a graduation ceremony in order formally to graduate. We shall, however, invite you all to one of our next ceremonies when we are able to hold them. This will give you an opportunity to celebrate your achievement along with all of your class colleagues in time-honoured tradition.

Whatever you plan to do next, I wish everyone success in their future careers. We shall always welcome you back for postgraduate studies should wish to take your knowledge to a higher level. Please keep in touch and I look forward to seeing you all at a graduation ceremony at the earliest opportunity and to celebrate your achievements in person. Congratulations once again!

With my very best wishes to you all,

Professor Graeme Wilkinson
(Vice Chancellor)

Announcement: Deferment of Sunway University July 2020 Graduation Ceremony

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and in order to protect the health and safety of the community, Sunway University has decided to defer all graduation ceremonies. Future ceremonies will only take place when it is safe to do so, based on the decision made by the Malaysian Government and the relevant Ministries.

The University will still confer degrees this July to all undergraduate and postgraduate students who are eligible to receive their awards. Parchments and transcripts will be delivered to graduates by post on successful completion of their programmes and after Senate’s endorsement.
