Preventing the Next Pandemic
COVID-19 was a wake-up call that pandemics, infectious disease outbreaks and other illnesses are a result of human behaviour driving unintended change.
Due to tropical geography, the Asia and Pacific regions are hotspots for infectious disease outbreaks. It is only a matter of time until the next epidemic erupts from one of the region’s rainforests or animal farms.
To prevent the next pandemic, a planetary health approach is necessary to address the various drivers of infectious disease emergence and spread such as biodiversity loss, food production and consumption, population mobility, and climate change.
What We Do:
- Generate evidence-based research
- Support policy dialogue on behavioural change
- Enhance cross-sectoral collaboration, including contributing to international and regional discourse around pandemic prevention
