Professor Bradley, MMU and Alypz Sdn. Bhd. collaborators win Silver at Malaysia Technology Expo 2023

The Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) is a yearly event that showcases innovative technologies and inventions from both local and international participants. In 2023, the MTE at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, was held from March 16th to 18th. The innovation is in the form of a Handheld Radiation Survey Meter that comes complete with an Extendable Fibre Optic Probe. The radioluminescence-based survey meter facility has been developed for use in industries in which there happens to be involvement in naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM), also in support of those who have other needs in seeking to detect weak emitters of radiation. The functionality of the system confronts particular shortcomings of the handheld survey meters that are currently being made use of, not least in probing within difficult to access locations; the small-diameter optical fibre probe is electrically passive, immune to electromagnetic interference, and chemically inert.  The facility has been produced by a group of researchers from Sunway University (Professor David Andrew Bradley, Head of Research Centre for Applied Physics & Radiation Technologies), Multimedia University, and Alypz Sdn. Bhd. and has been recognized with the Silver International Innovation Award in the Protection of the Environment, Energy, Water, Wastewater, Sanitation & Green Technology category.

Sincere congratulations to Professor Bradley and all the research team members.
