Sunway University recently became the first non government-linked private university in Malaysia to receive business accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). AACSB accreditation is widely regarded as the gold standard for business schools where less than 6% of business schools globally have received this accreditation. The process of becoming AACSB accredited is rigorous and usually takes several years to complete.

Sunway University’s President, Professor Sibrandes Poppema, stated that the achievement of AACSB accreditation adds another accolade to the university, which has been ranked as the top non government linked university in the country by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2023.

Sunway Business School Dean, Professor Lim Weng Marc, stated that the AACSB accreditation is a world-renowned recognition of the school's robust credentials, mission-driven investment, and commitment to continuous quality improvement in education, professional engagement, and research. He added that the achievement also recognizes the world-class leadership and support from the university’s distinguished board of directors and senior management, the Sunway Education Group’s support services, as well as the school’s highly-qualified academic and professional staff.

Students who study at Sunway Business School can expect top-notch undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that are accredited by AACSB and delivered by a credentialed faculty in areas such as accounting, business analytics, entrepreneurship, finance, global supply chain, international business, management, and marketing. Students from AACSB-accredited programmes also have a competitive advantage in their careers and better opportunities for graduate education as AACSB-accredited schools are recognized globally by top employers and universities.

The initial accreditation lasts for five years, and Sunway Business School will continue to strive for continuous improvement and innovation while aligning with the latest AACSB accreditation standards, with the next review set to take place by 2027. AACSB's goal is to connect educators, students, and businesses to create the next generation of great leaders and it provides quality assurance, business education intelligence, and professional development services to over 1,600 member organizations and more than 950 accredited business schools worldwide.
