VIPs for the Week
We held the very first ‘Virtual Intercultural Programme’ (VIP) with our partner university, Universitas Tanjungpura (UNTAN), Indonesia from 22nd to 24th March 2021. VIP by Sunway Cultural Exchange (SCE) is a newly-launched series of programmes which aims to create a platform to promote the partnership of Sunway University and our partner universities, to continue cultural exchange despite travel bans. The programme showcases the institution and culture of both partners.
In this edition with UNTAN, participants were introduced to Malaysia and Indonesia through sharing sessions by hosts, discussions with peers, performances by participants and a hands-on ‘teh tarik’ activity. The participants also learned more from sessions on ‘Understanding Cultural Diversity’ and ‘Why Cultural Exchange’ from both institutions. Alumni of both Sunway and UNTAN shared their thoughts on how their exchange experience helped them to grow and develop and gave them a new perspective to view the world.
Alumni who shared during the panel session were Sonia Lim (OCBC Bank) and Joel Loh (HealthMetrics) from Sunway University, and Maya Andzelda (Monex Investindo Futures) and Elga Yulindisti from UNTAN.
