Western Michigan University and Sunway Signing Ceremony

Sunway University signed another agreement with Western Michigan University (WMU) in the area of Mechanical Engineering on Friday, March 15, 2019. Two visiting Engineering professors from WMU were present for the signing ceremony. Signing on behalf of WMU was Professor and Dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at WMU, Professor Houssam Toutanji. Sunway University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Graeme Wilkinson signed on behalf of Sunway University.

The agreement is for an “Advanced Standing for Mechanical Engineering Major” (ASMEM). The ASMEM will allow students enrolled in Sunway’s American Degree Transfer Program (ADTP) to take more courses in Sunway before transferring to WMU for degree completion in Mechanical Engineering. This means that Sunway students will be able to complete this accredited Bachleor’s degree program and spend less time studying in the USA.

After the signing ceremony, Professor Houssam Toutanji and Professor Said AbuBakr also from WMU met with several representatives from the American Degree Transfer Program to discuss further collaboration and enjoy lunch together. Following this time of interaction, the Professors talked to ADTP students in the Physics Lab about preparation for and opportunities in some fields of Engineering.
