Experiential Learning at its Best in the School of Hospitality: ‘Let’s Go to The Plantation at Bentong!’

A group of 14 students from the Diploma in Events Management travelled to The Plantation, located in Bentong, Pahang. The Plantation is an eco-friendly resort located deep in the tropical forest. This incentive tour is part of the students’ course requirement, providing students with an opportunity to organize a tour starting from conceptualizing the destination and itinerary, to the final stage of executing the tour programme.

Before arriving at The Plantation, students also made a pit stop at a soy sauce factory to learn about the process of making soy sauce followed by sampling local delicacies. Throughout this trip, students learnt valuable knowledge about sustainable practices in this location - it runs on solar power and uses a chemical-free water filtration system to ensure sustainability and to conserve its natural surroundings. Unlike common hotels, The Plantation has futuristic yet open concept sleeping areas, living halls and a kitchen with a panoramic view of the lush green landscape, making it a perfect place for a weekend retreat.

Students were also involved in various customized teambuilding activities, where team members learnt the importance of communication and teamwork to accomplish given tasks and missions.
