Talk Summary
Burning fossil fuels, resulting in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, is the primary cause of global warming. When described as tonnes of GHG emissions, energy fundamentally alters how buildings and cities are designed and operated. This talk presents some cases of the best practices related to urban energy around the world. Various cities and countries are analysed from the perspectives of energy efficiency, environmental effects, policy influences, etc.

About the Speaker
Prof. Eddie Lau Siu Kit has a wide-ranging experience in building energy systems, acoustics, noise control and structural-acoustic systems, accumulated through stints at Daniel Chan & Associates Ltd. in Hong Kong, Acron International Technology Ltd, Emerson Climate Technologies and Johnson Electric Industrial Manufactory Ltd.

He has held teaching positions at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA.
