SynopsisThis subject will identify and analyse a range of global and local trends and contemporary issues that are affecting the hospitality and related industries now and into the future. It will critically examine the drivers of change and assess their likely impacts on hospitality businesses. It will also focus on a range of dynamic contemporary issues that are facing the industry, discussing both the longer term strategic implications as well as the more immediate impacts facing managers and their operations. Trends and current issues will be explored through engaging with thought leaders drawn from industry, professional bodies and other universities. Through an evaluation of trends and the analysis and synthesis of available data, students will not only explore the issues but propose sustainable and ethical solutions for managers of businesses and organisations.                                 
Learning Outcomes
  • Determine key contemporary issues within the international hospitality industry that can have a significant impact on the hospitality business. 
  • Propose possible solutions and / or strategies for a sustainable hospitality business. 
  • Verify the socioeconomic or environmental  impacts of these current issues faced by hospitality businesses.
