SynopsisThe tourism and hospitality industry contributes significantly to a nation’s economy and employs a large number of people. The industry has an ongoing commitment to training in both customer service and technical areas. The curriculum will help to prepare students to step into a wide range of service sectors and to become active stakeholders in the hospitality and tourism industry. They will learn to identify the global trends in the industry that are generating opportunities and creating challenges in an increasingly  competitive international environment. The subject, will provide students with a solid foundation of knowledge of the industry; its history, problems, and general operating procedures in equipping them for career entry-level service management positions in a variety of career opportunities across a range of sectors. Workplaces for which Tourism and Hospitality competencies are required include hotels, clubs, restaurants, community food service organisations, catering organisations, resorts, as well as travel and tourism organisations.

  • Present the findings of a tourism and hospitality organisational study.
  • Discuss the current trends within the different sectors.
