Micro-credential in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems

Overview

SynopsisThis course focuses on the contemporary issues of land-based economic development and food security with priorities given to developing countries and deforestation frontiers. It aims to provide an analytical framework to explore and assess the various strategies in transforming the agriculture systems in ecological, social, and economic aspects in meeting different sustainable development goals.
Learning Outcome

The course intends to cover a wide range of concepts and strategies proposed or adopted to address the various sustainability challenges in agriculture, including intensification and extensification, landscape approach, natural capital, certifications, bio-economy, circular economy, and self-sufficiency.

Students will:

  • Analyse ecological requirements of sustainable agriculture
  • Appraise current food systems
  • Determine sustainable agricultural practices and food systems using relevant system
