Sunway University Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Inns of Court Malaysia (ICM)
Sunway University and Inns of Court Malaysia (ICM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), solidifying a strategic partnership. The signing ceremony took place at the official launch of the Asian Law and Society Association (ALSA) Meeting 2023.
The event commenced with a warm welcome from Professor Sibrand Poppema, President of Sunway University, and Professor Lynette Chua, President of ALSA 2023.
The opening keynote was delivered by The Hon. Justice Dato' Mary Lim Thiam Suan, Federal Court Judge, Honorary Bencher of The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn, and Deputy President of ICM, focusing on the theme "Law, Life, and Sustainability."
Representing Sunway University during the MoU signing, Professor Sibrand Poppema was joined by Professor Abhimanyu Veerakumarasivam, the Provost of Sunway University, who witnessed the historic agreement.
On the side of Inns of Court Malaysia, the signing was represented by Hon. Treasurer Mary-Ann Ooi Suan Kim, and witnessed by Hon. Asst. Secretary Leng Wie Mun, ICM Deputy President Justice Dato' Mary Lim, Vice President Justice Datuk Seri Mohd Firuz Jaffril, and Vice President Justice Dato' Hajah Aliza Sulaiman.
The event was graced by the presence of esteemed Federal Court Judges, including The Hon. Justice Dato' Sri Hasnah binti Dato' Mohammed Hashim, The Hon. Tan Sri Zainun binti Ali, The Hon. Tan Sri Jeffrey Tan, and The Hon. Datuk Vernon Ong.
Also in attendance were other ICM exco and member Judges, such as The Hon. Justice Nadzarin Wok Nordin and The Hon. Justice Dr. Johan Lee. Prominent ICM Member YBhg Dato' Faiz Azmi added to the distinguished guest list.
Special recognition was given to Dr Paul Linus Andrews and his dedicated team for their exceptional efforts in hosting and coordinating the event.
