Nursing Students Give Back through Community Service
The Sunway Future Nurses Club from Sunway University recently organised a blood donation campaign and a visitation to a welfare centre to instil values of contributing back to the society amongst its members.
The 2-day blood donation campaign themed “Blood Drive 2017”, co-organised with the National Blood Centre (PDN) successfully attracted 161 blood donors.

Michel Lim Yew Peng, who led the campaign shared that the club hopes to raise awareness on blood donation and its significance in saving lives during emergencies. She added that this was the first blood donation campaign organised by the club.
On the very same week after the blood donation campaign, the club organised a one-day visit to the IQ70+, also known as Malaysia Association for the Welfare of Mentally Challenged Children in Petaling Jaya. The weekend visit aimed to provide its club members to have a better understanding of children of special needs and at the same time, reach out to those less fortunate.

A total of 24 nursing students participated in the out-of-campus activity, where they had the opportunity to help the children at the centre through various activities such as colouring and interaction games.

The Sunway Future Nurses Club is comprised of students who are studying the Diploma in Nursing at Sunway University. Sunway University students like Michel are encouraged to engage and participate in extra-curricular activities and community service to broaden their horizons through diverse experiences.
