Sunway University recently became the first institution in Malaysia to be one of the sponsors in the oldest football cup competition in the world, the English FA Cup. The university sponsored the jerseys of English League Two club Newport County in their recent FA Cup fourth-round tie against English Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur, in which the underdogs took their more famous London opponents to a replay after drawing 1-1 in the first game before losing 2-0 at Wembley Stadium.
This January, Sunway Alumni Relations organised a “sweet” affair to welcome the January 2018 graduates into the Sunway Alumni Community. With a twist to the yearly ‘Homecoming Hi-Tea’, this ‘A Sweet Welcome’ Homecoming Meet-Up aimed to have a more casual and engaging session with graduates.
Following its official launch on 5th January 2018, Sunway University Press has poised itself as one of the university’s aides in the transmission of scholarly learning. Its publication of Great Thinkers, Great Minds: Professorial Lecture Series helps underline the university’s complement of research expertise that can engage the broader public in new thoughts and perspectives.
The Department of Psychology academic staff were very active in November 2017 where many were involved in conferences and workshops, near and far.
International Office hosted Jungma High School from Gwangyang, South Korea on 30th January 2018. Jungma High School is one of the top high schools in the province awarded by Ministry of Education in South Korea.
Two students from the BSc (Hons) in Culinary Management, School of Hospitality, were specially selected to be chef assistants in a one-of-a-kind, pop-up restaurant in the Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur.
Congratulations Dr. Babu Ramanathan! He received a travel award to deliver his research outcomes at The Annual Joint International Tropical Medicine Meeting (JITMM) held at Bangkok, Thailand. The symposium was jointly organised by Mahidol University, Thailand and the Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU).
Department of Biological Sciences is pleased to share that Dr. Chandrajit Lahiri was awarded USD4000 by New England Complex Systems Institute, MIT, USA, to participate in Complexity and Data Analytics/AI Winter Course. During his visit, Chandrajit presented his work in the field of UTI and Cancer.
