Professional Pathways & Exemptions

IFoA

Our programme is accredited by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), UK. Students in our programme are eligible for exemptions from 6 IFoA papers, which are: CS1, CS2, CM1, CM2, CB1, and CB2.

SOA

Our programme is also recognised by the Society of Actuaries (SOA), US. As the SOA requires students to undertake courses to fulfil their Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) requirements, our school offers subjects that will directly allow students to achieve their full VEE exemptions. We prepare our students to sit for SOA professional exams throughout their undergraduate programme.

Note: Eligibility of exemptions is determined based on subjects taken and grades obtained.

In-house Actuaries

Together with academic staff, our in-house actuaries ensure that our programme syllabus is in close alignment with the industry needs. Our students are highly employable as they are at the forefront in meeting the rising needs for actuarial expertise globally.

Actuarial Practice Course (APC)

Get ahead with this 3-month intensive hands-on course designed to prepare actuarial students to be employment-ready. It incorporates feedback from our practicing actuaries and industry practitioners in the course design. This course is conducted by our in-house actuary - Ms Sophia Ch’ng, focusing on current topics in the insurance industry.

In addition to the standard university subjects and assignments, students have the option to enrol in this course, offered exclusively to Sunway University’s actuarial students without additional charges.

We are proud to have a track record of 100%* employment in actuarial-related positions for students who successfully completed this APC.
