Graduation

Graduation

June 2020

Dear Graduate,

I would like to offer you my warmest congratulations on completing your studies and graduating from Sunway University. This is one of the major milestones in your life and demonstrates that you have been able to commit yourself successfully to many years of study and to demonstrate your competence as a professional. I am sure that achieving your award will bring you much satisfaction. You will now be prepared for arewarding career and have the knowledge and proven capacity for hard work that should give you the basis to be highly successful in life.

Regrettably this is not the time at which we can celebrate your achievement through a graduation ceremony. The Covid19 pandemic has disrupted many aspects of normal life and we are all getting used to coping without some of the things that make life very enjoyable, such as graduation ceremonies. In a normal yearwe would have arranged a graduation ceremony for you in the near future. But in the current situationwe shall not be able to hold any ceremonies until 2021.

I would like to reassure you that your results have been approved by the Academic Senate and therefore technically you have graduated and you will be sent your certificate(s) as proof of that in the near future. It is not necessary to attend a graduation ceremony in order to graduate. We shall, however, invite you to one of our next ceremonies when we are able to hold them. This will give you an opportunity to celebrate your achievement formally along with all of your class colleagues.

Whatever you plan to do next, I wish you every success in your future career. Please keep in touch through Sunway Alumni and let us know how you get on. Maybe you will be interested in doing further studies at some point. We will always welcome you back for furthergraduate or postgraduate studies or for training programmes should you wish to take them. Don’t forget also to follow our progress as Sunway University develops and moves up the international league tables. We are well on track to becoming a leading global university and to make you even more proud of your “alma mater” in the years to come.

Congratulations once again, and I look forward to seeing you at a graduation ceremony at the earliest opportunity and to celebrate your achievement in person!

With my very best wishes,

Professor Graeme Wilkinson
(Vice-Chancellor)

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and in order to protect the health and safety of the community, Sunway University has decided to defer all graduation ceremonies. Future ceremonies will only take place when it is safe to do so, based on the decision made by the Malaysian Government and the relevant Ministries.

The University will still confer degrees this July to all undergraduate and postgraduate students who are eligible to receive their awards. Parchments and transcripts will be delivered to graduates by post on successful completion of their programmes and after Senate’s endorsement.
