While the FCRI primarily connects Lancaster and Kuala Lumpur, Professor Nick Dunn and Professor Harry Hoster (‘Digital Cities’ Theme Leads), explored a range of possible sustainable living alternatives from all over the world, as well as close to home during a recent workshop held on 6 February 2020.
As Sunway Group’s flagship township, the 800-acre fully integrated green township has been transformed from an abandoned tin mining wasteland into a wonderland, which is also the first sustainable township certified by the Malaysian Green Building Index (GBI).
Key issues facing the world will be the focus for the new Future Cities Research Institute (FCRI), a joint initiative between Lancaster University and Sunway University in Malaysia.
Lancaster’s Chancellor, the Right Honourable Alan Milburn, and the Chancellor of Sunway, Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah AO, launched the FCRI in a ceremony held at Sunway University.
