Teaching Outside the Classroom- A SOH Trip to the Italian Baker (Massimo)

In order to understand the operations of the high-volume, food production environment, as well as enabling students to appreciate and apply theories and knowledge taught in the classroom, 24 bachelor degree students in Culinary Management students together with 2 subject lecturers (Dr. Tan Ai Ling and Ms. Rachel Thomas) visited the Italian Baker (Massimo) on the 5th June 2018. It was a fun and fruitful trip! Within the two-hour visitation, students were given the opportunity to learn the history of the company and products, together with understanding the latest technology and production strategies, and quality management systems used as well as the current issues and challenges faced by the food industry.
