Sunway ADTP Students Bag US Varsity Scholarships

The Centre for American Education (CAE) of Sunway University hosted the CAE Summer Awards Ceremony, to acknowledge the achievements of 53 American Degree Transfer Programme (ADTP) students who have completed the first half of their degree at Sunway University.

Amongst the 53 transferring students, some have been awarded scholarships from their respective universities, including Lim Yuzhe, Kim Li Jie, Aston U Jit Sheng, Sylvester Pua and Farhana Sultana.

The awards ceremony also acknowledged 83 students who received the Dean’s List Awards. Sports achievers who represent the state and national teams – Julian Yee Zhi-Jie for figure skating, Sin Li Jane for bowling, Natasha Mohamed Roslan for bowling and Tan Yun Hung for swimming were also recognised at the award ceremony.

At the ceremony, Dr Elizabeth Lee, Senior Executive Director of Sunway University and Sunway Education Group, who congratulated the students on their achievements and encouraged them to continue to work hard and persevere in their academic and career pursuits in order to achieve success. Also present at the awards ceremony were Professor Peter Heard, Provost; Professor Peh Suat Cheng, Dean of School of Interdisciplinary Studies, and Dr Sim Tze Ying, Head of the Centre for American Education, Sunway University.

Students who will be transferring to their university of choice in the Fall of 2017, have secured places in various universities in the United States such as University of Michigan Ann Arbor, Western Michigan University, Illinois Institute of Technology, University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Some students have chosen to complete their studies in Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.
