About The Programme

The use of smart phones has grown rapidly in recent years; a trend which only seems to be increasing.  Smart phones use software applications, or Apps, to retrieve, process and store many different types of data, from mobile messages to information about the weather and traffic updates.  In this programme you will learn how Apps are designed and developed – and how e-businesses can be built on smart devices.  Alongside your studies into mobile information systems, you will also gain invaluable insights into how successful business people develop their businesses, giving you the knowledge needed to perhaps one day become a successful entrepreneur in your own right.

The Programme aims to provide students with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of smart computing as an integrated mobile information system and to develop your entrepreneurial skills. The Programme provides a good understanding of different types of information system and database design, but specialises on mobile applications and their development.  Towards the end of the Programme you will have the opportunity to undertake an industry-based Internship and to carry out a capstone project, which will enable you to both gain industry experience and to conduct a research project that focuses on solving real-world problems.

Alongside the technical skills gained in information systems and mobile technologies, the programme covers the development of key business processes and the management skills necessary in today’s rapidly changing world of employment, whether you want to start your own business or are entering into industry.
