This international consortium of leading universities share the key goal of developing authentic literature in Islamic Finance as a scholarly discipline by organising a three-day web-based conference.1 The seven universities are: Sunway University, Malaysia as the host organiser jointly with INCEIF, Malaysia; Istanbul University, Turkey; Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar; Istanbul Commerce University,Turkey; Latrobe University, Australia; Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, Turkey jointly holding this conference. The consortium of international universities is proud to host an international meeting using Emerald’s Gotowebinar platform as a service to this scholarly endeavour.
FIFC started with a very large financial grant from the Australian Research Council in 2005 to a research team led by Prof Mohamed Ariff at the Monash University, Australia to generate original research to add new authentic literature to the then emerging discipline of Islamic Finance. The first three meetings were held in Melbourne, Australia, after which subsequent meetings were hosted internationally in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Durham University, and Lancaster University in the U.K.as well as UUM, INCEIF & Sunway University in Malaysia. This series of conferences has led to the publication of eight peer-reviewed books (see page 4 for examples) on Islamic banking, sukuk, financial institutions, wealth management, economics & banking risk published by reputed publishers Edward Elgar, John Wiley, etc. Islamic Finance series together with the best papers identified published at each meeting and also published independently by paper presenters in journals over nine years, there is strong evidence of creating an authentic literature by the FIFC. We invite you to participate.
[1] The 11-th FIFC was originally planned to be held in Istanbul on 18-20 December-2020. The ongoing persistence of COVID-19 prevented the Istanbul meeting so the meeting is now re-planned as a web-based conference.
