About The Programme

The BA (Hons) Contemporary Music (Audio Technology) aims to train versatile musicians and music producers. It is both a technical and creative degree programme, providing students with solid music theory and academic knowledge, while developing skills with audio technology through studio practice and interdisciplinary collaborative projects. Subjects and areas covered include composition, arrangement, sound design and film scoring, as well as music theory, history and aural training.

This programme is ideal for any student with a strong interest in music, production, sound and audio technology. The programme is also open to individuals with no prior formal musical training who are passionate about pursuing a career in music. Graduates will be equipped to work in the music industry as producers, composers, sound engineers and creative artists; or in the broader creative industries through work on film, TV, video games, theatre, dance, entertainment and many more.

STPM Average C or CGPA 2.0 (minimum 2 Principals)
A Level DD / DEE (minimum 8 points)
Australian Matriculation ATAR 55
Canadian Matriculation 55%
MUFY 220 (55%)
Sunway Foundation in Arts 50%
Sunway Foundation in Science and Technology 50%
UEC Maximum 28 points from 5 subjects (all Grade Bs)
IB Completed with minimum 24 points (excluding bonus points)


*Candidates also need to undergo and pass an audition.

TOEFL 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), 80 (internet-based)
IELTS 6.0
PTE Acedemic 50 overall (minimum 46 in each skill)
MUET Band 4
SPM English B3 or B+
UEC English B4
O-Level English (1119) Credit
Sunway Intensive English Programme Pass Level 4 with minimum 65%
ESL/ English Satisfactory level in English in Pre-University programmes where the medium of instruction is English
Cambridge English (Advanced) Minimum 67
AUDITION All candidates must undertake a LIVE AUDITION.
